Find myself being jealous of all the drawing my children do, and frequently judging the drawings I make. Here is what I know to do instead: keep drawing, keep doing the things I like, learn new (and old) things from others, and let go of the judgements. Quantity eventually leads to quality.

Reading “Syllabus” by Lynda Barry and it is inspiring us to draw more, and in ways we haven’t tried before. Here’s a collaborative, quick drawing exercise. We each took turns writing character names, then had one minute each to draw a character, then pass the paper to the next person. When all the characters were filled in, we took time inking one page each.
What am I not willing to feel?
I heard this phrase in a podcast and it really struck me that this is at the heart of why I struggle sometimes. Resistance to my emotions. I am getting so much better at recognizing when it’s happening, and although I don’t always choose the best way to handle it, I almost always see the choices in front of me. I think just seeing I have choice is a huge step in living the life I want. Now to practice allowing the feelings, and then choosing the responses that will serve me.
