I love how the word and image from last year matches the activity of this year. Today I climbed Sulphur Mountain in Banff, with my daughters. It was tiring and challenging and fun on the climb up, and nerve-wracking and scary and fun on the gondola ride down.
I have noticed that I have the most fun doing things that are: new, challenging, scary, and exciting. Perhaps it is because, under these conditions, I am more likely to possess a beginner’s mind, and to be present with what’s in from of me. In situations where I am doing something I have done many times before, I need to be more conscious of remaining present, and then I can relax into that and have fun, too.
