I’m having a hard time starting this post. There, I’ve started! I’ve never enjoyed writing (so why do I blog, you may ask? A question for another day…), but I felt compelled to join this blog-hop. Sarah, a fellow member of Creative Coconuts, started a discussion about how we, as artists, can help out in our communities. More specifically, she wanted to help her friend’s daughter, Lila. I really loved this idea, so I jumped in without knowing what I would do with it.
I have never met Lila, but her smile touches my heart. She is a four year old girl with cerebral palsy. Her parents are trying to increase awareness about her disease, and raise $20,000 to provide Lila with stem cell treatment this summer; you can read more about Lila and her story over here and here. If you would like to join the blog-hop, click here.
For my part, I really want to be able to contribute something to Lila’s treatment. To do that, I will auction one of my paintings. The highest bidder will receive the painting (payment to be made through PayPal), and the money will then be sent to Lila’s family.
This is an original watercolor and ink painting, by Belinda Fireman (that’s me!). It is professionally matted and framed with conservation glass. The outside measurements of the frame are 11″ x 14″. Here is a photo to give you an idea of the framing:
